Marketing - Facebook ads

I've tried my hand at making a Facebook ad for Coryographies to see if that pulls in some fans that would love to get their hands on a bookshelf necklace.  So far this week my sales have been pretty normal, maybe a bit higher, but that could just be that Christmas is getting closer.  My shop views compared to listing views have definitly gone up though.   A new marketing thing to try out though, as I head into my second Christmas season with my beloved bookshelf necklaces!

Meanwhile I'll just sit here at the kitchen table sawing...

Coryographies on SFCB.org!

San Francisco - kind of like Vancouver, if Vancouver was
lucky enough to be in California.

I love finding my jewellery posted around on the internet.  Etsy tells me from which links people come to my page, and I check out the pages they came from regularly, and then see which blogs and websites have linked to my shop! 

I think the most beneficial post has been on bookshelfporn.com - but I think it's just a picture without a link to my shop, but many people who buy my necklaces say that's where they first saw them!  A quick google will always find me :)

The latest Coryographies appearance on the net at the moment is on the San Francisco Center for the Book's blog! http://sfcb.org/blog/

I was very happy to see a bunch of my jewellery posted there... even a cameo by yours truly in one of the photos ;)  It looks like a lovely organisation, offering workshops on bookbinding even.  Here's a snippet about what they do and are for:

I hope the pictures of my items on the blog spreads my bookshelf necklaces to even more book lovers!  I sold a number of them in the last few days, and thought this may be why, but none of them were to the San Francisco area...!

P.S. I adore San Francisco.  I got to go on a fieldtrip (*cough* band trip *cough*) when I was 17 and it was beautiful.  I'd love to go again!

Coryographies at In With The Old

I have some pictures to share of my items that are being sold at In With The Old, the cutest little handmade crafty shop in London:

May 9th (also my birthday!) was the celebratory opening of the shop, which has officially already been open for three weeks.  It's so cute!  There are about 20 different makers that contribute to the shop, and it is run by Alice, who makes incredible pieces out of reclaimed treasures.  The shelf in the above picture is one of the items she sells - apple crates turned into adorable shelves!

Other makers' items include adorable headbands, beautiful prints of birds (wearing hats!), intricate applique felt brooches, lovely fabric teacups, and even those cute frilly pants to put over baby's diaper!  It's a lvoely shop, and I always want to spend more time in it - it's a shame I'm not in London so much anymore!

New Craft Shop!

I promised to share the link to In With The Old, the new craft shop in London I'm selling in, as soon as I had the website details - and here they are!  The brand new website to accompany this brand new store is here: http://www.inwiththeoldme.com/  Like, share, and spread the word!  It opens tomorrow!

In With The Old is run by Alice, a young, brave, fashionable, creative wonder who uses old crates such as these apple crates (left) and turns them into beautiful shelves to put up in your home.  Me and my husband are moving to Oxford in the Autumn, and I can't wait to decorate the place with a few of her items.  Check out these adorable pieces she also sells:

This is a silver plated message board (left)  - with rosebud magnets!  Eeeee.  So sweet.  This is very in line with the style of the shop - cute and creative ways to use items a bit differently, and give your home a 'cottage chic' feel!

And my favourite item (right) has to be the antique cutlery hooks.  Beautiful silver spoons bent for you to hang your jacket!  In addition to this, there are also 13 other makers that feature their own handmade and beautiful items in the shop, ranging from sweeet stitched fabric teacups to funky rocket jewllery.

My own items featured in the shop are layed out on one of Alice's own apple crate shelves - mostly my bookshelf necklaces, but some tea pot earrings and a few sushi items too.  I hope people like them!

Coryographies at In With The Old!

I'm very pleased to share that my items are now being sold at an adorable vintage/handmade/reclaimed shop in Islington, London called In With The Old!  It opens its doors to the public on Thursday. 

I'll be sharing the website and doing my part to market this amazingly pretty shop, which now has a little shelving unit (make from reclaimed apple crates!) full of my jewellery items!

The grand opening celebration will be taking place on May 9th, which is - coincidentally - my birthday!

If anyone is in the London area and is curious to check out this fabulous new shop, the address is 57 Amwell Street - 10 minutes walk from either King's Cross or Angel tube stations.

Recently at London Fashion week models were seen wearing sushi decals on their nails... could this be the start of sushi nail fever?

Christmas at the Smithsonian

In 2009 I finished my Masters degree in Palaeoanthropology and Palaeolithic Archaeology at University College London.  I met my husband when I was on excavation in central Spain, and I'm looking forward to a conference in March in Kyoto, Japan, where I will get to present a poster I've collaborated on, on prehistoric hominids and their cognitive abilities.  So when I'm not crafting, a lot of my life is taken up with archaeology!

So when I saw I was getting a lot of Etsy hits from the Smithsonian online magazine, I was thrilled to see my Stone Tool Earrings featured in their article on Hominid Gifts for the Holidays!


The matching ring and necklace have sold, but the earrings are still there!  What a nice Christmas surprise to be somehow associated with the Smithsonian... even if it's not to do with my research!!
